Day 80 - first day of school

Today was the first day of school. All the kids are now in school. I am excited about having some free time! I did miss my little one today.
Since it is the first day of school that means summer is officially over. So is my blog. I have had fun tracking our summer! I look forward to next year!

Day 79 - last day of summer

Today we turned in our swim bag for lunch bags! Since it was a rainy day and we spent the whole day swimming yesterday, we did some house keeping today. The kids did get to kick back and relax for most of the day. Tonight MA and I made brownies and lunches! I think everyone is ready for the big day!
On a side note, MA's teacher gave her the cutest card at meet your teacher day. We read a cute poem tonight and then sprinkled magic confetti under her pillow to help her sleep. Loved the idea! Thanks Mrs. M!

Day 78 - 6 hours at the pool

Today we went to the pool again. We stayed for 6 hours! It was a lot of fun. The kids had fun swimming, swinging and sledding! We are going to miss lazy pool days with friends.

Day 77 - pool day

For one of the last days of summer, we hit the pool. We had a great time swimming with friends and enjoying the cool water.

Day 76 - meet your teacher day

Today was a great (but long) day. We were able to meet all the kids teachers. All the kids were very happy with the teachers that they have and the friends that are in their class. When we walked into the school, we were greeted with this picture. It is going to be a great year!

Day 75 - teacher treats

Every year we make treats for the teacher on meet your teacher day. Last year it was a little involved doing fortune cookies. This year I took an easier route. We did bags of mints with the tag "It's mint to be a great year". We did bags for the activity teachers and buckets for their classroom teacher.

Day 74 - kindergarten

Today we had a get together for several friends that will be attending the same school this year. It was wonderful to see old friends and meet new ones. MA is very excited! Thanks to the sweet hostess for including us!

Day 73 - count down to school

We are in the final stretch of summer. We only have one week left! It is slowly starting to slip away...we have already started piano and soccer. Later this week we will begin dance. W even has a book report to do. We have had an amazing summer but as with all good things - there comes an end. But we are going to do our best to enjoy the last few days together!

Day 72 - big plus!

My husband is a youth director. As with all jobs, there are plus and minuses. One big plus is the youth are instant entertainment for the kids. At the pool I got to relax while these two fun youth entertained the girls!

Day 71 - relaxing

After a great week with house guests, it was time to relax! We hung out, went to movies and relaxed! A great day indeed

Day 70 - babysitting

The girls had their first attempt at baby sitting today. We got to baby sit our sweet next door neighbor. The girls loved it! The baby was passed between two laps until she could not take it any more.

Day 69 - family reunion

This past weekend we went to my family reunion. It was so fun getting to visit with my cousins! A and I love being with them but don't get to very often. This weekend we got to meet this sweet little one.
I claim that she is named after me. My youngest cousin could not pronounce my name when she was little. This sweet little one now has my nickname for her name! If only they lived closer - I would get to love on her all the time!

Day 68 - soccer coaches

This week w is doing a soccer camp. The coaches are from Scotland and England. We have the pleasure of hosting them for the week! W is beside himself excited. The other kids have enjoyed them as well! All the boys in the family love having two more guys to play x box. I am having to adjust to making dinner for people who actually eat lots of food! I am used to my little birds. I am thankful that we could host them. It has been a fun experience for everyone!

Day 67 - simple pleasures part 2

When it was time to pack up the luggage, the kids were so excited! I could not figure out why until we picked up the cart. They wanted to ride it. It was more fun for the girls than the boys. In fact L even said "it looked like a lot more fun on Zack and Cody".

Day 66 - braves game

Since the girls were able to go to the American girl store, it was only fair for the boys to go to the Braves game. It did rain so we had to hang out a little. The coke bottle that changed colors kept us very entertained during the delay. The Braves won! It was a fun game. It was the first Braves game for the kids.

Day 65 - american girl store

For m's birthday we went to the American girl store. Both girls had been saving their money and had a great time spending it. For m's birthday we ate at the bistro. They sang to m and brought a cake. The girls loved every minute! Definitely worth the trip!

Day 65 - traveling home

After a great trip with the family, it was a long ride home! We did have a good time at the dwarf house. I love how the simplest things can entertain kids!

Day 64 - water park

Today the whole family went to a water park. It was a lot bigger than the one we have in town. The girls tried a lot of the rides and loved them! The boys loved all of them. The only one in the family brave enough to try the slide that is over a hundred feet was daddy. It was a great end to the birthday celebration trip!

Day 63 - escalator fun

The girls love riding the escalator. So after a long day of shopping, we rode it until they did not want to ride it again!

Day 62 - Mexican food

Today we went to a Mexican restaurant and ran into some old friends and their sweet family. It was so fun seeing them. We were not able to really visit as they were finishing up when we arrived. It does make me think that I need to put visit them on my next summer's to do list.

Day 61 - big chicken

Today we went to a restaurant in town. They had a person dressed up like a big chicken. The girls could not eat until we went to see it!

Day 60 - birthday celebration

Today we celebrated my baby girl's 6th birthday! So many changes were happening for us and our family when she was due. She was the best change of all!

Day 59 - new pool again

Today we went swimming in another new pool. My aunt bought a new pool and we had a great time swimming for over 3 hours!

Day 58 - pancakes

Last night the girls had friends sleep over. For a special treat, I made them special pancakes. One friend liked them so much. She said "they were surprisingly tasty and flaky.". I love kids!

Day 57 - crafts continued

Today we had a friend over to make crowns for the girl's dolls. They had a wonderful time and it was much easier than sewing!

Day 56 - craft time

Today the girls got a new craft. It is a raccoon stuffed animal that you can sew. I thought it would be a good introduction to sewing. They liked it ok. I am glad cousin c was there to help!

Day 55 - Water Park

Today we went to a water park in our area.  We had a blast!  They have a huge "V" slide that W did 50 times.  I was pretty impressed since you had to carry a tube up 5 flights of stairs.  K did the slide once with me.  We face each other when going down.  The look on her face was sheer terror!  I was very proud of her for trying!  (I was unable to get pics of this slide)

The other activities of the day were the mat slide and wave pool.  MA was so tired that she went to bed at 5:45.  I am hoping that she will not wake up in the middle of the night.
